TEACHING & LEARNING STRATEGIES

Small Group Discussions (Sgds)

SGDS are interactive sessions led by a faculty member aimed at engaging students in active learning. During these discussions, students read case scenarios and then participate in brainstorming within their groups to apply their acquired knowledge. The facilitator guides the discussion, clarifying concepts and encouraging critical thinking among the students.

Problem-based learning (PBL)

PBL sessions are integral components of our learning approach, where students actively engage with real-life scenarios to enhance their critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Through PBL, students not only grasp theoretical concepts but also develop practical insights applicable to clinical practice.

Interactive lecturing

Interactive lecturing techniques are employed to actively engage students in the learning process. This includes incorporating multimedia presentations, case studies, quizzes, and demonstrations to enhance comprehension and retention of key concepts.

Team-based learning (TBL)

TBL sessions form a dynamic part of our educational framework, fostering collaboration and communication skills among students. TBL sessions encourage peer learning, constructive feedback, and the application of knowledge in real-world contexts. Through collaborative problem-solving and discussion, students deepen their understanding of course material and develop essential teamwork skills essential for future professional practice.

Self-directed learning (SDL)

SDL allows students to take control of their learning process, fostering autonomy and accountability. During SDL sessions, students have dedicated time to delve deeper into topics of interest, review course materials, conduct research, and engage in self-assessment activities.

Skill lab teaching

Skill lab teaching offers hands-on learning, allowing students to refine clinical skills in a controlled setting. Simulating real-life healthcare scenarios, students practice diverse clinical procedures and techniques. Through repeated practice and feedback, they gain confidence and competence, preparing for professional challenges. Additionally, students perform practicals in basic sciences laboratories and utilize 3D Anatomage tables for enhanced anatomy understanding.

Class Examination

  • Students are prohibited from bringing textbooks, notes, manuscripts, or mobile phones into the examination hall. Violations will lead to strict disciplinary action.
  • Any student found violating examination rules or engaging in unfair practices may be expelled from the examination, with the case referred to the college disciplinary committee.
  • Latecomers arriving more than 15 minutes after the start of the exam, will not be allowed to enter the examination hall.
